The project goals
We are working hard to realize our plan: the local community will have an empowering space to gather and create, we will have fresh produce in our gardens and a source of income to keep the project going. By transforming the land into a green, fertile place through creating a sustainable garden, we ensure that life returns, that temperatures drop and desertification is slowed down. Locals can stay and visitors to Morocco can continue to live this unique experience. With our project, we hope to become a green and supportive place for the local population struggling to build a livelihood, and to be a hopeful example for others in creating a livable existence in this dry place on earth. We aim to pursue and demonstrate the importance of living in harmony with nature and with each other.

  1. Reforestation. The biggest part of the land will be transformed into a food forest garden so that we can bring back the oasis life. First of all a well has to be dug, as everything depends on water. Without water nothing can be done; trees can’t grow and constructions can’t be build.
  2. Educational exchange. After we have more access to water, we will set up a communal place for the local women to support them in generating an income. In addition, a space for the local children will be created, a place where they can come outside their school hours. Here there will be room for workshops, art, music, physical activities and gardening, but also for informative discussions and lessons. There will be a great focus on all forms of art, as we believe that by introducing art into the early years of a person's life, it can stimulate the growth of a child very well.
  3. Guest accommodation. The third goal is project-supporting: we aim to build a small, cosy guest space at the edge of our gardens where we can receive vacationers. We will keep organizing Sahara tours, for which we need a car, and make sure a stable income will be generated to keep the project running.
